The spiral has been used in many cultures as a symbol of divine creation and destruction. It encompasses expansion and contraction, winding and unwinding, birth and death. Nanette Giacoma, Open for Business
The Winter Solstice is a powerful time to work with the spiral and dance with the darkness of feminine (yin) energy. This inner work will help you develop your sixth (third-eye) chakra, or Inner Seer, and let go of old energy to prepare for rebirth in the New Year.
The Winter Solstice marks our journey from one year to the next. We visit the magic of birth, death and rebirth as we celebrate the return of the sun on Mother Earth. It is an age old dance that reminds us that life is like a spiral, circular, but not always predicable. We don’t always know what lies beyond the next curve in the road. The spiral is symbolic of the process of divine creation and decomposition. It encompasses expansion and contraction, winding and unwinding, moving inward and outward. It can be used as a potent meditation.
Mentally dance into the center of the spiral and back out again, and reflect upon your human dance this year. Have you spent your time paused at the center, or twirling in place in a sacred dance like a whirling dervish? Perhaps you boogied quickly in and out of the center. Then again, maybe you are still slowly waltzing your way there. Have you been carefully following certain dance steps? Maybe you made up jazzy new steps, or found out you can suddenly tap-dance. Regardless of where you are in your 2020 spiral dance, you have no doubt gained valuable knowledge that will help you move forward in your personal and professional life in 2021.
I know I personally found I could dance into the unknown, over and over again. Mind you, I made plenty of missteps, and no doubt stepped on other people’s toes more than once. It’s been a real change with both myself and my husband working from home. I do a lot of zoom and not much in-person anymore. Ah yes, I do miss miss being with other people. Some days I felt like my husband and I were doing ballet, other days we tangoed, and well there were days, let’s just say, we were were at the Hard Rock Cafe.
It’s been hard to listen to some of the tunes of 2020 and learn to dance in the dark, but in the end I have found new insight, wisdom and energy for the things I am passionate about. Hopefully, you too have found you can dance to all kinds of tunes.
To help you find your new groove, here is a guided meditation “Dancing with the Darkness” so you can dance into in the New Year with a song in your heart.
XOXOXO
