Like water, our feelings may flow or freeze
I cussed more over the three-day Martin Luther King weekend than in the three years prior! Living in Maine, I expect some severe weather and some snafus because of it. But, I was not prepared to deal with the aftermath of Friday night’s blistering 35 mile per hour North wind.
Saturday, when I went to do laundry, I discovered the water supply to the laundry room that was frozen. “}@*^” Then the drain pipe in the laundry room was also frozen. “#*@!” So, I turned up the heat in the room and got out my blow dryer to defrost the pipes (yeah, it’s a thing) but hours later, still frozen pipes. “!*#%^”
I finally gave in and called our friend and handyman to help me, because my handy husband is gone for a month. He was able to diagnose and resolve the issue. “Ahhh!” Life is good!
Sunday afternoon, I went to water the horses. The brand new heated hose I bought three weeks ago froze last week, and the new hose had yet to come in. “#*@!” So, I had been pumping and hauling water by hand – about nine, 10 gallon buckets a day. A lot of work, but doable. But now, the pump was frozen! It was fine Saturday! “^*#@?”
“Deep sigh!” Okay, I can still get water from the outside tap at the house and use a toboggan to slide the filled buckets to the barn. That worked Sunday just fine. However, come Monday morning that faucet is also frozen! “!*#@!, !*#@!, !*#@!”” “#@*!” ^*#%!” #@*%”. I proceeded to throw empty buckets across the icy lawn. Yes! I was having an all out two-year old style tantrum – tears and all! “Really Universe?! Really?!”
I did ultimately fill the buckets at the kitchen sink, haul them to the toboggan and then slide them to the barn. And, it only took three trips – eye roll and sarcasm abound! The barn is about a half mile from the house.
So what does all this have to do with chakras? Well, I knew that all the frozen pipes were a message from my Spirit Guides. Monday, after my meltdown (pun intended), I took time to do a long meditation and asked my Guides to help me understand the message.
I started at the first (root) chakra and worked my way up. I immediately became aware of a block in my second (sacral) chakra. There was some squelched anger that was manifesting as overdoing in the third (solar plexus) chakra, along with some grief that was lodged in my fourth (heart) chakra that had not been expressed fully. I felt this rise up as tears in my fifth (throat) chakra, which is all about authentic communication.
In a truly humorous way, the Universe was giving me an opportunity to express all that anger and grief. Just like all the frozen pipes, I was emotionally frozen in places. Water is the second chakra element, and two of the second chakra goals are emotional flow and connection. My disconnect to some of my, so called, negative emotions was creating an overactive third chakra (overdoing) and an underactive fifth chakra (under expressing).
You may have picked up on the fact that the number three kept coming up – three days of #@!!, three weeks when my new hose broke, three distinct freezing situations, three trips to the barn, and so on. This has to do with the third chakra. My Guides tell me that I need to pay more attention to what I’m doing. Am I doing things that have purpose and meaning? Are my actions in alignment with my current soul path? Where am I spinning my wheels? Where am I getting caught up in doing it perfectly (a big one for me)!
Now, the work I have to do is to spend more time feeling my emotions and expressing them authentically. During my daily meditations, I am sitting with my feelings – well, I’m trying to sit with my feelings. My mind has been very busy during mediations trying to keep me aways from those feelings. With consistent practice and a willingness to be uncomfortable, I will make progress. And I’m looking at all I’m doing to see where I can back off and cull some things that really aren’t a part of my path any longer.
Incidentally, as of Tuesday, the outdoor faucet is defrosted, miraculously the barn water pump started working again, my new heated hose arrived, and the laundry pipes continue to be free and flowing despite single digit temps. I’m sure my husband the engineer could give me a rational reason things are flowing, but since everything is energy, I know that acting on my Guide’s messages helped get things flowing again.
Do you have frozen feelings lurking in your chakra pipes? Here are a few tips to work energetically with your emotions.
- Write about ALL your feelings.
- Talk about your feelings with the person with whom you are struggling.
- Yell or scream in a secluded place (but not at anyone).
- Whack a wall, couch, or floor with a dish towel.
- See a counselor or therapist.
- Get in touch with your light and dark feelings using a creative process: drawing, painting, writing, dancing, etc.
- Listen to vibrational music and feel it with your feet, hands, or other body parts.
Winter’s a great opportunity to spend some time inside physically and spiritually to get into your energetic flow. As they say, go with the flow!
