Winter Solstice, is a great time to use your intuition to set your intentions
At this time of year in ancient Nordic mythology, the Norse Goddess Frigga, a Seidr, (Seer) sat at her spinning wheel weaving the fates of men and women. The celebration was called Yule, from the Norse word Jul, meaning wheel. The Yule season encompasses the Winter Solstice (December 20th) through the New Year (January 1st). The Christmas wreath is a symbol adapted from Frigga’s Wheel of Fate” reminding us of the cycle of the seasons and the continuity of life. It is no coincidence that the timing of the birth of Christ occurs in this season.
The Goddess Frigga is a powerful archetype that invites us to seek answers through our sixth (third-eye) chakra. The sixth chakra primarily uses feminine energy, which is intuitive, receptive, responsive, cooperative, synthesizing, inward looking, and seeks the dark unknown regions of our lives and ourselves. The Goddess Frigga is known for her prescient sight. She speaks the language of the soul. She asks you to go into your inner realm and seek the truth there, which may defy the rational intellect.
The Yule Season marks your journey from one year to the next. It is a wonderful time to work with your six (third-eye) chakra energy, and develop your intuition and Inner Seer. Symbolically, the longest night of the year is a fruitful time for setting intentions that will be birthed with the rising sun and gain momentum with the growing light of spring.
As the earth and sun play out the fabled winter solstice tale, and we begin the winter season, ask yourself, “What would I like to bring into my business and my life in the coming year?”
Take some time to set your intentions using your third-eye chakra. Below is a solstice ceremony to help you get in touch with your Inner Seer and let go of the old to prepare for rebirth in the New Year.
Ceremony for Solstice
On a piece of paper, write down things you need to release, and to let go of at this time. For example, a situation, person, job, bad habit, or negative mind-set. Turn off all the lights and spend a moment in darkness, remembering and honoring the sun’s light. Afterwards, burn or rip up what you wrote.
Then tap into your intuition as you write your intentions for the upcoming year. Ask yourself, “What am I drawn to do at this time? What synchronicities have come my way? What are my dreams telling me? What signs or symbols am I receiving from my guides?”
As part of your intention setting, pour yourself a small glass of water and mentally place your intentions in the water. Then drink the water to internalize them. At the end, offer a blessing to yourself, your loved ones, your business, and the world at large.
