Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow. Helen Keller
Even though the sun has been playing hide and seek here in Maine, the summer solar season is upon us. This is a great time to dip into the fiery energy of your solar plexus (third) chakra and let yourself shine! Fire is the third chakra element, and the solar power of the sun is an important fiery, life-giving presence that’s central to our survival on earth. It’s during the summer season that the seeds planted in the spring grow into the fruits, vegetables and grains that nourish us.
This same kind of fiery energy is also central to your growth on your professional path and in your business. Think about what seeds you have planted in the last few months. Seeds may be in the form of partnerships you are developing, new projects you are putting in motion, advertising and marketing efforts, or all of the above. What’s starting to grow? What’s stagnant? Where do you need to shine your light a little more? Where are the metaphorical shadows that prevent you from reaching your goals?
When things are not going your way, it is the solar energy inherent in your third chakra that can keep you moving ahead despite the shadows that have fallen across your path.
How many times have you let a shadow cast doubt on your ability to shine your light professionally, or in your business? I know I have on multiple occasions! Shadows come in many forms: a dissatisfied customer, a rude comment, lack of support from loved-ones, an unexpected expense, or any obstacle that seems too big to overcome. So, do you allow the obstacles to overshadow you, or turn and face the sun?
Goals are a third chakra concern. Whether you achieve them can be related to whether you have a deficient, excessive or a balanced third chakra. If your third chakra is deficient, you may lack the drive, or will-power to overcome your the obstacles and achieve your goals. It may feel too hard, so you do nothing instead. If it is excessive, you may be spinning your wheels, going in too many different directions, and lack the focus to accomplish your goals.
Despite obstacles, if you have a balanced third chakra, you will engage the fire energy within you and find a way to move forward. Here are a few ways to help you balance your third chakra if you are currently struggling.
- Create or update your goals to make sure they are SMART goals. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound). Benchmarking your goals as you attain them can be a great way to keep you moving forward.
- Store up some solar energy by spending 20-30 minutes in the sun daily.
- Strengthen your core (where the third chakra is located) by doing stomach crunches or plank exercises.
- Write about your fears, anger, powerlessness, people, situations or any other obstacles overshadowing you at this time. Then burn that paper (in a firesafe place or container) to release the negative energy.
- Say empowering affirmations. “I do what it takes to succeed.” “I take action to attain my goals.” ” I control my destiny.”
Your perseverance is related to the inherent rights correlated with the third chakra: I act! I choose! I will! I intend! Use the solar power of your third chakra, to stay on your path and reach your goals. It will give you the strength to get up, again and again, when facing your shadows. It will help you take action in the face of adversity and uncertainty. Ultimately, your third chakra will help you take actionable steps toward your goals.
